A Message From Our Founder⏤Dr. Pamela Ellis

My name is Dr. Pamela Ellis, “The Education Doctor,” and I’m the founder of Compass College Advisory.

We partner with parents to help their teens find a college that feels like home without overpaying.

Our expertise and insight are backed up by over 15 years of experience working with thousands of students, visiting over 500 colleges around the world, and earning my Ph.D. in Education from Stanford University.

In recent years, I have noticed parents and teens have an ever-increasing amount of stress and anxiety over the college admissions process. And honestly, some of that stress is understandable.

College is getting more competitive and expensive every year.

Since 2000, the total number of college applications for the top 50 colleges has increased by 1.5 million applicants while the total acceptance rate has decreased from 30% to 10%.

To put that number in context, just twenty years ago, one out of every three students that applied to a top 50 college got in.

Now, only one out of every ten students do. Over the same amount of time, the average cost for a public or private four-year degree has increased by $40,000 dollars!

Due to this increased cost of tuition, college graduates now finish with an average of $30k in student debt.

But even as college gets more competitive and expensive year after year, I continue to guide countless students to their dream college and graduate with no debt at all.
